Real Life Example of How the Local Cabinet Adds Value to Your Customers
I was meeting with a customer today and during our discussion, he went on a rant about his electric bill. He was paying an enormous amount and as he put it "just doesn't have the time or the staff to check it out."
When I heard this I thought of Bob McNiece in my Local Cabinet. Bob is a Sustainability Subject Matter Expert. I looked at my customer and said "I have a good friend who is an expert who works with companies to improve energy efficientcy and reduce utility expenses, among a lot of other things. If it is OK with you, I'll give him a call and set up a meeting for you to talk with him."
My customer smiled and said "That would be really great. Can you help me with my phone bills? My IT guy takes care of that and he isn't very good."
I said "I have another buddy who does for telecommunications what Bob does for electric bills. His name is Bob Stevens. I'll set him up also." My customer was wondering where I got these friends so I explained about The Cabinet.
"So do you have anyone that could help me outsource my servers and stuff?" I couldn't believe it. "As a matter of fact I do. Andy Spero is Cabinet member and could probably save you a lot of money."
"Great, can you set up a meeting so we can do this all at once. My calendar is packed."
"Sure." I said with a big smile.
On the way home, I called all three members and we are mobilizing. As I write this, I'm happy to say that I have a happy customer, in who's eye's my value went through the roof, and I was able to significantly advance THREE fellow Local Cabinet members toward getting a new customer. None of this would have been possible without the Local Cabinet!
One last thing, just before I left to go back to the office, I showed my customer my business card with The Cabinet Logo on it. He looked at it, smiled and said "Hey, I guess I'm the guy in the middle aren't I".
Yes, you are!
Carpe Diem!
